Work done to manufacturer specifications, then a magnetic nail sweep and a final walkthrough with you.

Weather that tests Montgomery County roofs

Derechos, tornadoes and record snow have all hit the county in recent years. Here is what the official records show.

June 5, 2024 Montgomery County Tornadoes

The National Weather Service confirmed two EF-1 tornadoes in Montgomery County: one from Poolesville to Seneca Creek State Park, and one from Gaithersburg to Ashton.

Roof takeaway: Most of the damage came from trees and large limbs falling onto homes. A healthy roof does little against that, which is why a post-storm inspection matters even when shingles look intact from the street.

June 29, 2012 Derecho

A fast-moving line of severe thunderstorms knocked out power to 77% of Pepco customers in Montgomery County (238,000 of 309,583) at its peak.

Roof takeaway: Straight-line winds tear off shingles and peel back flashing, and they bring down mature trees, which are common in established Bethesda and Chevy Chase neighborhoods.

Hire with confidence

What Maryland law requires of your roofer

  • A Maryland Home Improvement Commission license. Only MHIC-licensed contractors may contract with homeowners for home improvement work.
  • At least $500,000 in general liability insurance, required of MHIC licensees since June 1, 2024.
  • Guaranty Fund protection. Homeowners who hire a licensed contractor can recover actual losses from poor workmanship or failure to perform, up to the amount paid, capped at $30,000.
  • No public adjusting. An MHIC license does not authorize a contractor to negotiate your insurance claim.

Verify any contractor, including us, with the MHIC license search. Read more about our company, licensing and how we work.

Frequently asked questions

What areas do you serve?

Bethesda (20814, 20816, 20817), North Bethesda (20852) and Chevy Chase, Maryland (20815).

Are you licensed in Maryland?

Yes. We are licensed by the Maryland Home Improvement Commission (MHIC), License #{{MHIC_LICENSE_NUMBER}}. Anyone can verify a contractor’s license with MHIC’s online license search.

Should I repair or replace my roof?

If damage is limited and the roof has useful life left, repair is usually the better value. Widespread wear, repeated leaks or a soft deck point to replacement. Our inspection report explains which applies to your roof and why.

Do you help with insurance claims after storms?

We document storm damage with dated photos, measurements and a line-item estimate for your claim. Under MHIC rules, a home improvement license does not allow a contractor to act as a public adjuster, so negotiating the claim stays between you and your insurer.
